Are the opinions of others keep getting in your head? These 4 advices can help you recoup your emotional ownership.

1. Holding onto resentment is like taking poison and hoping for the other person to die.

By forgiving something or someone, you are not letting them off the hook. You’re letting yourself off the hook. Remember chasing a poisonous snake will only drive the poison through out your body, not the snake.

2. You wouldn’t alloe someone tie you up in chains, drag you and push you around. So why would you let the same happen to your emotions?

Imagine this. Someone comes to your house without you inviting, takes a dump in your living room and leaving you to clean it up. Would you let that happen? Of course not. Just like your house, your mind is an invaluable asset you and you only take a hold of.

3. No one can make you feel how you feel.

You’re the owner of your emotions, no one else. Sure, you can’t dictate what other people say or do to you, but how you respond to it is well within your control. May be the world is responsible for hurting you but you’re responsible for healing.

4. When we’re in physical pain we are very reactive. We figure out how to make it go away immediately.

Sadly when we’re in emotional pain, we tend to stay in the game much longer and dwell on our guilt, shame, resent and self-loathing, often through out our entire lives.
